Conventions expected within a trailer

The release date: The date that the film is expected to be shown in cinemas. This is vital because if the audience doesn't know when the film is released how can they go to watch it? The date could be specific and give the day, the month and the year of release (E.G 20.12.13). It could also just be the season of release and the year.(E.G summer 2013)

Genre: What type of of movie is it? I.e Horror, action etc... These can be identified by symbolism's within the trailer for example lots of red colours and slow music could mean the movie is a romance movie.

Cast: This can persuade the audience to see the movie especially if the actors mentioned are skilled.

Plot: Not a lot is revealed but it is usually is enough to give the audience a rough idea of what the movie is about. However this may not be the case for a teaser trailer.

Selling point: This is essential to attracting audiences.
